Rail-Assisted Bathroom Transfer Device

Problem: Young girl with CP had a wheelchair that would not fit into the bathroom, making toileting and bathing difficult.  She had to be manually lifted from her wheelchair onto a commode, then lifted to the bathtub, presenting a physical challenge for those caring for her.  Moreover, the size of the bathroom made it difficult for physical transfers.

Solution:  A one-of-a-kind transfer device was designed which reduced the amount of physical lifting required.  The girl is placed on a commode that can be wheeled directly into the bathroom.  There is nothing else to do but to slide her from the toilet seat to the bathtub on rails.
