Modified guitar with pedal control strumming

Problem: Client suffered from a brain aneurysm that paralyzed the left side of his body, leaving him unable to continue his passion for playing the guitar.

Solution:  A strumming system that utilizes the foot pedal of a hi-hat stand, which is typically used by drummers.  The pick is attached to a spring loaded lever, bicycle cable, and pedal to achieve the up-and-down motion of a pick.

Volunteers:  Engineering students Gillian Langor, Steve Coward, and Steve Redden.  Billy Bidgood of Memorial University Technical Services, Joanne Hanlon, and Dr. Leonard Lye.

Donors: Griffith's Guitar Works and Music City in St. John's, Newfoundland.
